Good Morning Participants,
I want to start this email out by saying THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR PARTICIPATION!!!!! Your involvement is invaluable and will hopefully set a standard across the state of Oklahoma . Below are things you can expect on the day you participant as Medic of the Day.
- Arrival Time: 8am by 8:30 am at the very latest.
- Parking: It is your choice. The south parking lot is free and large enough you should be able to find a good spot. The east parking lot is an option especially if the weather is bad. On the east side is a tunnel that you can take inside the capitol to protect you from the inclement weather. FYI do not park in an identified slot or else you will ticketed and/or towed.
- Attire: Is professional. Please wear your uniform and represent your service as well as EMS . No need to bring all your gadgets unless you can’t leave home without them.
- Report to: Kirk Bass , capitol RN located on the fourth floor across from the women’s restroom. That room is very small so you may need to rotate through the room throughout the day. Kirk will take you to the both the house and senate from the morning proclamations, that is why you need to be there by 830 at the very latest. The hours are ideally 8-4 but that can be flexible if you have to be with family, get children or report to work. Just let Kirk know straight-a-way upon your arrival.
- Additional Information: While at the capitol you are going to have the opportunity to visit senators and representatives regarding issues in EMS . Take advantage of this opportunity and be knowledgeable about what you are talking about. I will be sending you a ‘talking point’ list of issues in EMS today. It would be a good idea to go to http://www.ok-emscoalition.org/ and review the bills pending. This will help you get an idea of what is on the agenda and when I send out the talking points they will make sense.
If you have any questions please call or email and I will answer or assist you anywhere I can. I look forward to meeting each of you and hope you find this experience rewarding!!!
Sincerely,
Stacy Morton B.S., NREMT-P
