Pending Issues

 

HB 2092- Rep. Kirby: provides immunity from civil liability to anyone providing assistance with an automated external defibrillator and to entities that own, lease, etc. and properly maintain automated external defibrillators.  The exception to this immunity is willful/wanton misconduct or gross negligence. Passed out of Judiciary Committee. Passed out of the House. Vote 97-0. To the Senate.

HB 1360- Rep. Cooksey & Sen Sparks: makes it a felony – as opposed to a misdemeanor – for assault and battery on an emergency medical care provider who is performing medical care duties.  The penalty for a felony conviction is not to exceed imprisonment for two years. Passed out of  Committee . Vote 97-0. To Senate.

HB 1888- Rep. Richardson: Duty to Act Bill. The measure requires each county to submit to the Legislature and Governor an emergency medical services plan and authorizes the county and any incorporated town or city that is a part of the ambulance service district to raise revenue, as allowed by law, to cover the cost of the district.  Requires that a licensed ambulance service respond to an emergency call within its primary service area or call for assistance from a neighboring service. Passed out of Public Health Committee 16-4. Passed out of the House Vote 81-15. To the Senate.

HB 1717- Rep. Ownbey: reappropraite funds from EMS tags. The measure ceases the apportionment of fee revenue from Emergency Medical Technician License Plates to counties, and apportions the revenue to the Emergency Medical Technician Death Benefit Revolving Fund.  The measure would be effective November 1, 2009.Passed out of Appropriations and Budget Committee. Passed out of the House. Vote 97-0. To the Senate.

Nick's Law- Requires insurers to cover autism treatment.  OKWatchDog.org nonprofit consumer and health advocate group.
